Our Technological Future - Mixed Bag #11

The breakthroughs just keep on coming and I just keep on piling'em up!

I started this blog halfway through 2005 and back then, techno news wasn't coming in as quickly as it is now.

The exponential acceleration in scientific breakthroughs is obvious to me.

By reading this blog, it will become obvious to you as well.

Enjoy:

Scientists to attempt sending a signal into the past (yeah I know... it sounds whacked, but it's for real)

First there was RoboDoc, now there is RoboNurse

Putting the brakes on light speed

Bionic cat eyes may help humans

Nano-wheels seen rolling at last

Jan-Willem, you might want to post some of these articles on Scientific Blogging as well. It's in beta right now but you can create your own column and use articles from here.

Hi Jan, I've only just discovered your excellent blog, and i've gotta say i'm fascinated by it, mainly because of the way all the technological advancements could aid our future's and health...

The post I first discovered and was most drawn to was "the quest for immortality" which you posted around this time last year... and I would be really greatful if you could tell me if there have been any advancements in this field since then...

I left a couple of comments on the post before i realised it was posted in jan '06 and not '07! (and yes i did take down all the relevant links you left in that post):)

Hey no-name,

If you want to know how it all went since then, all you have to do is follow the links.

Peter Thiel pledged a motherload of money to the MPrize so it's even bigger now (4 million).

Money is being pumped into realising research on SENS-strategies.

I'd say everything is coming along nicely.

I'm not sure what you meant when you said you took down links that I left. But I appreciate that you like my blog.

Please pass it on to anybody you know. I enjoy the traffic.
