It's more than a little scary what a huge percentage of tech R&D funding comes from the military. Stories like "The Crusher" and the autonomous and armed frisbee's make over the top sci-fi distopia's like Terminator seem less unlikely.

I seriously hope that the first strong AI doesn't get born in a military bunker, with psycho generals training it...
